In Memory of
Dusty Lane
Dusty Lane was 16 years old when he passed away from cancer in 2015. He was the kind of person who put everyone else first — even when he was the one who was sick. His spirit of selflessness and love for the outdoors lives on in every cast, every smile, and every moment of joy this foundation creates.
Dusty's Lines of Love was established in 2022 by Dusty's family to carry that legacy forward. The foundation gives terminally ill children and their families ways to forget about the illness — whether it's toys, fishing trips, or a Christmas in July hospital visit.
Jamie Alkire, our Chisholm Trail Museum Operations & Events Coordinator, is Dusty's mother. This cause is personal to our entire team — and we are honored to bring it to Sand & Saddles.
How to Help
Every donation — big or small — makes a real difference. And every donor receives a free pass to the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum to use at a later date.
Bring new or gently used fishing gear — rods, reels, tackle boxes, anything. Every piece goes directly to taking sick kids on fishing trips. Brub's Trading Post will also have live worms and loaner poles on site during the festival.
Cash or card donations accepted at the event. Every dollar funds fishing trips, hospital visits, toys, and care packages for terminally ill children and their families.
Bid on items at the silent auction during the festival. All proceeds benefit Dusty's Lines of Love. Keep an eye out for auction tables on site — every bid counts.
Any donation — fishing equipment or monetary — earns you a complimentary pass to the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum to use at a later date. A thank-you from us and from Dusty's family.
Sand & Saddles falls during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Join us September 18–21 in Cleburne as we collect fishing equipment and donations — and help give a sick child a moment they'll never forget.
Bank & Kayak
Fishing Tournament
Cast a line in honor of Dusty. The Saturday fishing tournament runs 8 AM–8 PM on the lake — fish from the bank or bring your kayak. Prizes awarded, and winners announced before the headliner takes the stage.
Silent Auction
Browse and bid on items at the silent auction throughout the festival weekend. All proceeds go directly to Dusty's Lines of Love to fund fishing trips, hospital visits, and care packages for terminally ill children.
Look for the auction tables on site. Every bid is a vote for a child getting to feel like a kid again — even if just for a day.
